Ted Holgersson (Suecia) |
STOCKHOLM - Marie Fredriksson will sign her new album "Min bäste vän"
at Åhlens City department store in Stockholm on June 16 at 17:30 CET."
I thought, what’s going on tomorrow, hmm nothing and do I have money? - Yep. I’m
going! My thoughts went like this”who knows if there will be more signing
sessions after her tumour and all. When I told my parents they thought I was
crazy because my plan was to arrive home on the same day. I tried to log in to
sj.se but I had some problems booking tickets. So I phoned them and they helped
me so I was able to book my tickets. It was 20:30 when I booked them - only 40
mins after the news had been published. My ticket to sthlm cost 247 SEK and my
departure from sthlm 707 SEK.
My parents weren’t happy but they couldn’t change my mind (“You’re making a BIG
mistake”, my father said and I just said, “Ok, that’s your opinion.”) There were
some problems on the journey though. One train was "broken down" and couldn’t go
to Herrljunga so they had to get another one. And from Herrljunga to Hallsberg -
we had to wait in Falköping for 30mins for staff that arrived in a taxi "aaargh,
how stupid!" Anyway, I met many people on the train which I chatted with (I know
that’s very unusual for Swedish people to chat with other people on buses and
trains).
A woman, who I met on the train, was going to meet up with her children and her
mom accompanied me on the train, so I met them too. We decided to go to Åhlens (where
the actual signing session was).
Then we ate salmon with dill cooked in white sauce and potatoes. Hmmm, was
around 16:10, hadn’t eaten since 8.00 in the morning so I was starving.
I said goodbye and left for the signing session - no one was there, just 2
polish girls (who actually lived in sthlm)
I told the salesman that I was a big fan collector and had travelled to sthlm
just for this, so he gave me some posters (2 different ones) , unfortunately
they didn’t have more promotion items.
I met a woman, Cathrine, who was a big fan as well. So we stood next to each
other and chatted, and then the signing session started. It was (Dimman) "Marie
Dimberg from the management and some security officers. Marie sat on a podium
next to a table with a bunch of flowers. I even saw her husband and their 2
children, but they left very quickly. Both Marie and Dimman were extremely nice
to me, especially when I said that I had been travelling from Varberg just for
this! Marie said I was fantastic. Hmmm, ok.
I got all my things signed and even an extra piece of paper! For example, I had
a book with her drawings that she happily signed, she said, “It’s great with
collectors who own everything.” "Hmm, I didn’t say it, but thought "you should
know what I have at home" hehe.
I tried to get to the queue twice but they closed it when I was 1meter from her.
(Got a few posters that I wanted signed for my friends abroad).
Marie looked really healthy although she needed help to get down from the podium
so I don’t think she’s completely recovered. Maybe she has some injuries after
her tumour. Perhaps you have read that she still has problems reading and
counting.
After the signing, Cathrine and I went to the central station and to McDonalds
so I could eat something quickly, a big mac. Then it was time to leave, it was
19:15 and the train departed from Sthlm.
It could have ended here but when I arrived in Gothenburg and changed trains, I
started to talk to 2 people from Ireland, (they said that I almost didn’t have
any accent and spoke very good english ;) We chatted until I had to leave. I
thought, "Hey Mike, I want your email addy." So when he wrote it and I was going
down the stairs to the door it CLOSED! And it started to head for Falkenberg and
SJ refused to help me. "You should have told me earlier, bla bla if you take a
cab you have to pay yourself bla bla".
So he "booked" a taxi for me in Falkenberg which never arrived, so I took the
bus at 00:30 to Varberg for 50 SEK and arrived home at 1:30
You might wonder if it was worth it? Yeah sure, I would do it again if I have
the time and the chance.
